!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I know not everyone here cares about motorcycles, but I really liked what Sean was doing with Lanesplitter. It definitely was worlds better than Rideapart or any of the other motorcycle sites out there

This makes me very sad, he was really becoming one of my favorite writers on the site. Wonder what the future holds for LS.

Wait, what the fuck? No way, he’s amazing!

+1. I really enjoyed the relatively inclusive attitude of Lanesplitter. Motorcycling can get really, really tribal, and it was refreshing that Sean was trying to cover all aspects of it as best as he could. Here’s hoping he has something else already lined up. I’ll definitely follow his work if he ends up at another moto mag / blog.

Ladies and Gentleman, we are witnessing Gawker Media actively imploding. Everyone is abandoning the sinking ship before it gets any worse.

Yeah his stuff was frequently my favorite articles on Jalopnik. I feel like he was just getting started.
Lanesplitter will probably fade back into a state of neglect like before

Gawker needs to trim $140,000,000 and union writers are expensive

I thought that was last year and the Conde Nast bullshit...
What I'm saying is that Gawker is pretty shitty.

exactly, it was some of the best motorcycle content on the web. I’m definitely going to follow his work. Hopefully he finds something soon

It honestly should have been last year. The Hulk stuff was questionable enough, but the Conde Nast outing proved that the majority of Gawker Media does have any journalistic integrity.

I posted that over here and now the comments section is freaking out. Rightfully so.

Terrible news. RIP Lanesplitter

Tavarish posted an article on it, and it sucked. Soon it will be “why buy an new KLR650 when you could buy an used MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR for the same price”.

Damn.... I’m not into motorcycles other than respect and interest in the tech. But I still read a lot of his stuff, because he’s a great journo.
Big bummer.

I’m not a motorcycle guy but that dude was great. Sucks that he’s gone.

Wow another bites the dust.

I’ll be blunt and say it - Jalopnik has some of the most toxic userbase I have seen in the automotive enthusiast oriented sector of the internet. Oppois a but better but even so......I am not surprised Sean was let go/quit. Most of this website refuses to accept motorcycles. Let alone ride them.

This guy brings up a good point, which I highlighted:
Kinja is ongoingly wonky. Something will not work right and you never know when until you see it. And they never fix it. Or if they do, something else breaks.
I have a theory.
To have 1,001% job security at Gawker, you must do a bad job.

Bummer. I really liked what PG and Sean set out to do with lanesplitter, to make motorcycles more accessible, less elitist and to advocate for bikes appealing to new riders, those at the top end of the spectrum and everything in between. I’ll follow him wherever he ends up.

Awww man! First some good editors and writers bailed, main page article numbers dropped, FA is gone, now this. Truck Yeah! will probably be next... Stupid main Gawker ruining the auto side of the site. Now all the great writers are getting scattered to the far corners of the web and main-stream / published media again. *huff*. I’m hoping Sean nabs a job where he gets to continue saying and doing what he actually wants; vs having to follow some company “line” (AKA: continue being actually interesting and opinionated)

Until last week I wasn’t even sure what handle controller the clutch and which controlled the brakes... I enjoyed Lanesplitter though

I’m with you. someone please save Jalopnik and Gizmodo from the Gawker meltdown.

I really enjoyed the relatively inclusive attitude of Lanesplitter.
well, now you know why these shitfucks fired Sean. he was too inclusive and accomodating. Gawker wants controversy and clickbait.

I also just realized Tyler wasn’t around for Foxtrot Alpha anymore as well. WTF
This place is going to hell

Remember a year or so back when Jalopnik was going to completely reinvigorate Lanesplitter, and hired like five different writers?
Now we’re back to, what, zero?
![]() 04/19/2016 at 00:05 |

He left to write for a different publication
, he was not fired.

I agree with the below comment about him trying to report on all sides of motorcycles. While I love Oppo the most, I spent(d) quite a lot of time on Truck Yeah, Lanesplitter and Flight Club. So sad that two of them are gone now.

Damn, everybody is getting let go. I never cared for bikes, but his articles were good, and I was warming up to motorcycles. I hope he finds something great.

Ah, appreciated. I was misinformed.

This really sucks, Lanesplitter was the only motorcycle site/publication that I’ve ever enjoyed reading, and that was %99 because of Sean. I really hope he finds somewhere new where he can continue the awesome work that he was doing.

I’ll follow him whereever he ends up, really enjoyed reading his stuff. Sad to see him leave with no fan fare or notice or anything.
